Yes, we do have what it takes, but we may need to do things differently if we expect different results. What adjustments are necessary? I know what I can do differently! Two way communication, for one.

Making its public debut, our new calendar might help graphic learners get a vision for upcoming events in the “At a Glance” format.

Hey Parents,
In an effort to streamline and minimize extra materials in our blog, we’ll strive to keep to the bare necessities and minimize too much extra, but with these wonderful students and staff, that is hard to accomplish.
There are SO MANY stories that need to get out!
This Middle School is #thatschool!
Taking things seriously, these students were part of a larger group that improved their scores on their testing. Is it all about testing? We would like to think not, but we would also hate to lose our accreditation and end up as #ThatSchool!

While sitting in the stands, trying to build connections, the perspective changed and the action shots were even better. While hosting Montgomery County, we tasted real competition. These teams are working hard building scholar athletes, citizens, a community and even the future, one quarter at a time. Lessons reach farther than just free-throws, fouls and the final score. What happens along the way is the process of learning!  #overnightsuccesstakes5years

Thanksgiving Wrap Up:
My first day off, Wednesday, found me looking at old #TBT photos, remembering the years here at Winfield and becoming thankful for the relationships, connections and families throughout the building, district and community. For instance, one tradition is the Boys Basketball Thanksgiving Practice and their insistence on an “optional” workout on Wednesday at 8:00 am and then again on Sunday at 3:00 pm. Getting up out of bed on a “Vacation Day” for a middle school student really shows dedication and commitment. Then running, practicing, drilling, and strategizing, all in the name of building a program started off as a nice touch but has evolved into a focused period of concentration and deliberation. I began looking for those old photos, to share with the team the memories and reminders of those that have laid a foundation before them, but discovered much more along the way. For instance, look at these “Game Faces…”

This cherished series of photos has been taken on the first day of Thanksgiving Break, every year for the past three years. The event has doubled from eleven players in only three years. I wonder what’s coming over the next few years? Only time will tell!

Sincerely,

Tom McCracken
