Student work at the middle school ranges from five paragraph essays to impromptu public speaking on favorite superheros to assignments done on Google Classroom.

#TBT

Hope comes from seeing others living in happiness and being successful.
When we are ready to allow students into a portion of our life, we begin to gain enormous influence. Students develop hope when they see us in our past, and realize, they too will be able to “grow up” and be somebody someday. The owner of this #tbt shot has been on these pages before and roams our halls today, talking football, “onzies,” and snowboarding.
Any ideas?

Cyber-Issues and Parent Connections
This link connects us with Channel 5 News and what some of the things kids may be actually saying in their text messages. Beyond the LOL or IDK, it is quite revealing to see the issues they face from their point of view. They have codes for everything. Follow this link to see a current list.

Our ongoing attendance

The State of Missouri’s Department of Education uses multiple indicators to measure, rank and score schools. Attendance is one of those indicators. They expect 90% of the students to be here 90% of the time. This additional indicator puts us in order based on attendance. I don’t know about you, but I would like to do as well as we can…  Please send students to school as often as possible. Thank you.

Counselor’s Week20160205_071749.jpg
Annual tribute and appreciation for the job done by our counselors reaches far beyond the office visits. Our counselors work at keeping kids out of trouble, helping with soft-skills, striving to teach emotional sobriety to all those who cross their paths. At the Middle School, every day carried a special theme of approbation and endorsement. Teachers, staff and students all contributed to make these days memorable.  Of course food, as well as decorations and heartfelt handwritten  notes were just a few of the offerings.

Additionally, there are other ways to stay connected and in the loop such as:
Blogs
Remind 101
Assemblies
Daily Office Announcements from our Office Administrative Assistant
Facebook / Twitter
SIS Gradebook Update

Conclusion
During these stressful cold and flu season, so many staff are asked or “voluntold” to step up to cover for teacher’s absences, conferences, illnesses and whatever else. The reasons and distractions seem to go on and on, but teachers and substitutes continue and persist with such pleasant and willing attitudes. They seem to just step up and help because we never know when something might happen to us!  I am so honored and impressed to work in a community that struggles and support each other through the various stresses of life!

Sincerely,

Tom McCracken
